Now that the team is starting to gel, it looks like there's "rumors" abound that Shero may be knocking on Toronto's door to find Geno another Russian to play with on the ice. Obviously, consider the source, but ... it would be interesting:

One of the comments is hilarious:

id do simon depres and beau bennett and draft pick for nikolai kulemin clarke mcarthur.

Someone's high if they think Shero ever would pay up that much for Kulemin.

Facts n'at:

Nikolai Kulemin
#41
RW
6'1", 225 lbs.

Birth Date:
July 14, 1986 (26 years old)

Place of Birth:
Magnitogorsk, RUS

Shoots: L
Experience:4 years
Drafted:Drafted by Toronto in 2006 (2/44).

SCOUTING REPORT
Assets:
Has sound instincts at both ends of the ice. A mobile skater with a keen sense of anticipation, he owns plenty of skill to produce points at the highest level. Smart and physically strong, he can play either wing position.
Flaws:
Must shoot a little more and start burying more of his chances in order to maximize offensive production in the NHL. Needs to do a better job of utilizing his physical gifts. Can be prone to prolonged scoring funks.
Career Potential:
Solid, versatile two-way winger.

Kulemin is a 2.800M cap hit and is signed through the end of next season. Ideally, you send someone like Kennedy (2.000M) and Tangradi (0.875M) or Lovejoy (0.525M) the other way to even out the cap hit.

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Kulemin - Malkin - Neal
Cooke - Sutter - Boychuk
Glass - Vitale - Adams
Jeffrey

I'd be OK with that lineup.

Or I'm just up WAY past my bed time and I'm over analyzing stupid things. One or the other.

Although he hasn't been on fire for the Leaves so far, I think they'd want a hefty return.

I would like to see him play with Geno, I just don't know if it will happen.

I don't think Kennedy is wanted by anyone, even as part as a package deal.

A team like Toronto might see the potential in a guy like Tangradi, but overall, I don't think you'll get much for him as the centerpiece of any deal.

To land Kulemin, it'd cost one or two of the defense prospects, at a minimum.

That is the minimum on paper due to cap hit.

If only Strait had not been waived, eh?

Then again, there are over 9,000 d-men in the system. Would he be worth it is the real question. Could he play "Penguins style hockey"? Grind bitches down?

Soft Euros have been ousted for grinding players. Is he soff ?
