Quotes of the Day

"We've had a couple frustrating games [at home], and we wanted to make sure we kind of stayed focused and maybe brought the same attitude we had on the road at home. We had a little more patience ... We stuck with things, and this is something to build off of."
- Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby

"It felt great. I’ve said before I’ve had a few chances the last few games and I’ve been getting robbed a little bit so it’s nice to get the monkey off the back and get the first one"
- Pittsburgh Penguins C Brandon Sutter

"It seemed like a lot more than two games. It's been forever. But it's good to finally have a good game, get those two points and get everybody cheering. We definitely stuck to our plan, start-to-finish, and everybody helped out in our zone. We didn't give up too many chances or shots. We were still able to get some goals, so that was the way we want to play every night. The guys did a great job for 60 minutes."
- Pittsburgh Penguins G Marc-Andre Fleury

Head Coach Dan Bylsma Quote of the Day
"The way we got [our goals] is more indicative of how we played the game. It wasn't a freewheeling game, it wasn't chance-for-chance. We didn't but give up but [16] shots in the game. I thought we did a really good job."

This is not that good a Pittsburgh team. Our second period collapse made them look good.

I know we have nothing to cheer about, but there are a LOT of Penguin fans there.

This will be a long season for the Caps and we have Ted and GMGM to thank.

Nice, can't wait to check out their bridge jumping.

I wonder how Pens fans got tickets. Did Teddy let our area code back in?

a response to that...

Good observation about the Pens. They were not nearly as dominant as the score may indicate. It's not that they are that good as much as the Caps can be and were that bad. In the 2nd, the Caps were really bad. The Caps have shown themselves inept, and especially so on special teams play. With all the penalties being called so far this short season, special teams play is the difference maker.
Oates and his team have a long and challenging road ahead. It is shaping up to be a long, short season.

welp..time to go do some work around the apt

As I said yesterday:
Where the F was this team?

All of a sudden they're playing like a cohesive team (for the most part). The noobs made some stupid penalties, but the big boys are starting to light it up.

Last two games:

Dupuis
0G 2A 2pts +2

Crosby
1G 5A 6pts +5

Kunitz
4G 2A 6pts +5

Letang
2G 1A 3pts +2

Malkin
0G 4A 4pts +2

Neal
0G 1A 1pt -1

Neal has to step his game up. ;)
