Quotes of the Day

"We obviously didn't want to keep sliding. Every game is so important. It wasn't a pretty one but it was good we were able to find a way"
- Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby

"The team played great. A big reason we only gave up one goal was the way we played. Everybody was careful defensively and making the right decisions. We didnít get as many scoring chances as we did, but we didnít give up as much. I think it was a good team effort."
- Pittsburgh Penguins G Marc-Andre Fleury

"It was good to get this win after Winnipeg. Two tough teams on the road. It was a little sloppy at times, but youíve got to win them like that. Itís big for us. 'Flower' was great in net tonight. Itís going to be like that on the road sometimes. I thought we did a great job."
- Pittsburgh Penguins RW James Neal

Head Coach Dan Bylsma Quote of the Day
"Going down to five that early, guys had to really step up. In particular, Brooks and Paul Martin had an outstanding game. Brooks is going to end up with close to 10 blocked shots. Playing those guys on the rush, playing Spezza and Jakob Silfverberg and that team, he was outstanding. They did a great job. I thought our team did a pretty good job of realizing we were in that position and had to play on the defensive side a little bit more and play in the offensive zone to minimize the impact on our D."

Fleury looked lost the whole game.
The whole team looked disinterested.

Telling you ...

Cooke Crosby Dupuis
Kunitz Malkin Neal
Glass Sutter Kennedy
(scrub) Vitale Adams

Time to ship Despres and Tangradi for a "stay at home D man".

They broke the shutout, obviously time to extend the coaching staff.

Pretty funny hearing Disco getting universally hammered by fans and hosts alike this morning.

As dumb as this might sound, the worst thing that could have happened to this team was Bylsma winning the cup in '09. It's given him a 3+ year pass for hanging onto a job that he's obviously not qualified for. The shame is all the squandered opportunities in the past 3+ seasons since then (of course Crosby's head AIDS didn't help either, but he's healthy now). He simply was a guy in the right place at the right time when he got hired. I think mustache boy tactics wore out it's welcome about 2 years ago. The man is clueless. To have this much talent on a team and not to know what to do with it is a farce. The whole organization needs to have their asses kicked for their stupidity.

The shame in all of this is that Reirden will be the next guy behind the bench.

If the Pens hire another good ol' boy to coach this team, prepare for another underachieving season culminated by a first round loss. I think I'll stop vesting so much time and enjoyment if Captain Combover gets the job. My guess is Hynes in WBS gets the call since that seems to be the "Penguin way."

I am proud to say I was anti-Ballsma before it was cool.

I've also about had it with Ray Shero, too.

I've been right there with you bro. Ballsma is a totally nice dude, but that doesn't make him a good hockey coach. My criticism of Shero is well documented. He knows how to wheel and deal for the most part, but otherwise his personnel moves, drafting, and attention to player development have been sub par.

Bylsma didn't even have a full year of coaching in the AHL when he was hired, amirite?
