Camp schedule

The Penguins are opening training camp to the fans. There will be practices at noon today (1/14), 11 a.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Friday, all at Consol Energy Center.

The team will hold a Black and Gold scrimmage at 7 p.m. Wednesday, staying as close to game conditions as possible. That also will have free admission at the arena.
Thursday will be an off day.

The mystery regarding who will play left wing on center Evgeni Malkin‘s line may have been revealed Sunday. Tangradi skated with center Dustin Jeffrey and right wing James Neal. Jeffrey will leave that spot when Malkin returns. Tangradi might not. “Eric Tangradi will be on the left, and James Neal will be on the right on (Monday),” Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. Tangradi has just one goal in 41 NHL games but has never had an opportunity to play with Malkin or center Sidney Crosby. “I haven‘t been told,” Tangradi said. “Just to be on the roster is my goal, my focus.” Crosby is expected to skate this week with left wing Chris Kunitz and right wing Pascal Dupuis. Center Brandon Sutter will be skating with left wing Matt Cooke and right wing Tyler Kennedy.

It's put up or shut up time for Tangradi. Personally, I wouldn't have broken up Kunitz-Malkin-Neal. It was the best line in the league last year.

It's put up or shut up time for Tangradi. Personally, I wouldn't have broken up Kunitz-Malkin-Neal. It was the best line in the league last year.

kunitz-sid-duppers was the best line in hockey before the winter classic game also...

kunitz just works with both of them really well...

all geno and neal really need is a big body to hit and clear space for them...let's hope that tangradi learns to fill that role...

Bortuzzo and Strait have to clear waivers, while Despres does not.

Unless they trade a guy like Lovejoy, those two are making the team and realistically should start over Lovejoy.

I read that this morning too. I'm retracting my prior Despres statement. This shortened schedule (abbreviated camp) screwed Morrow.
