Detroit Red Wings prospect Riley Sheahan has pled guilty to his Oct. 30 drunk driving arrest. In addition to the charges, Sheahan's arrest gained attention due to his wearing a Teletubby costume when he was pulled over by police.
Detroit Red Wings prospect Riley Sheahan pled guilty on Thursday morning to drunk driving charges that stemmed from his arrest on Oct. 30, according to a clerk at the 61st District Court in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Sheahan pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level higher than 0.17, which falls under Michigan's new "Super Drunk" DUI law. The then 20-year-old reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of 0.30.
In addition to his level of intoxication, Sheahan was driving the wrong-way on a one-way street and was in possession of Grand Rapid Griffins' teammate Brendan Smith's identification. Smith is 23-years-old and Sheahan explained that he used the ID to gain admittance to bars.
The charges of displaying or using false identification and driving the wrong-way on a one-way street were dismissed on Thursday.
As part of his guilty plea, Sheahan will pay a $1,325 fine, complete 49 hours on a work crew, attend victim impact classes and serve 12 months of probation.
