So, a couple posts back, I posted a video of the hybrid Porsche 918 super car running around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. I just found this video of a 2013/14 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 running said Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Porsche 918 = $845,000
Ford GT500 = $75,000 (?)
The Ford video is far more hair raising than the composed and highly competent Porsche 918.
You can tell right away the Mustang's dealing with weight issues. She seems VERY jittery or skittish entering certain corners and has some mid corner slop/side motion that really shouldn't be there. Independent rear suspension would really help sort that out. However, that 550 hp sure does seem to shine going down the straights.
Oddly enough, the Camaro Z/28 went around the 'Ring faster than the GT500 at nearly DOUBLE the price. Go figure.
That being said, there's a lot left in this car. The biggest issue is the weight. I can't wait to see the S550 (2014/15 and onward) Mustang - lighter, better suspension geometry, and more power.
