Pens Offseason Direction

Honestly, the more I think about the playoff loss, the more I'm convinced that the fans, and more importantly the front office, need to avoid overreacting. After watching the Flyers performance in the 2nd rd I'm convinced that the Pens early exit was less about Philly than it was about us and that's a good and a bad thing. I won't deny that the Flyers outplayed us in the series and deserved to win but there are several facts which can't be ignored: Fleury had one of the worst stretches of his career despite having one of his best seasons overall, the whole team was uncharacteristically undisciplined (from the top down), and the coaching staff seemed unable (or unwilling) to make the necessary adjustments to counter the Flyers special teams units. I think the first two are fixable, the effectiveness of the coaching staff is up for debate (tho I'm not throwing in the towel on the Bylsma regime just yet).
I know all the crazy offseason rumors have begun but does trading Jordan Staal help fix any of the problems which cost us in the playoffs or does it only add to them? Are the defensive problems fixable with the current personnel? What's priority #1?
I have my own opinions but I'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks.

So you know your wife is smoking hot when you literally have to chase off a couple of ignorant 20-25yr olds off the beach!

Nice investigating reporting by The Pensblog. Makes the Trib, Rossi, Yohe, and Madden look bad.
Crosby wants to stay in Pittsburgh
What do you want him to say? He wants to play for the Habs?

He wants to play for Therrien again. He's a goner.

Maybe they sign Maxime Talbot ... at the end ... with about 1 second left. He's about 5 foot 8.

After the Kovacevic report about the "C" meeting and now this, I wonder if the Trib is wearing out their welcome with Pens management. Although there's no problem taking the Trib's money and letting them advertise on the Pen's website.

FWIW, according to an insider friend, she says Staal was basically tongue in cheek when he said Carolina. She claims he is happy with the Pens. I trust her info, she comes up with stuff that is spot on.

I'm sure there would be plenty of people pumped to see Bugsy back with us. He would come $500K cheaper than Martin. But is Malone's lack of production a case of not fitting in with TB's system or just being past his prime.

I'd do it. We have a few D-men who could do what Martin does and more. The problem is they're rookies but at least they play DB hockey in WBS so they'd basically be able to step onto the ice with very little down time. Bugsy would fill one of the needs I think we need on the PP, net presence.

Not sure if Bugsy is past his prime or just never felt confident/comfortable in TB. One thing for sure is it can't be from playing with high profile players. I'm not sure why they signed him to that big a contract but he hasn't lived up to their expectations. Perhaps TB thought they were getting something he is not capable of being. If that's the reason, that's TB's fault. IMHO Malone was going for the money and nothing more.
