I would bet a million dollars that the HoF is filled with cheaters.

Gaylord Perry, for example, admitted to doctoring balls during his playing days.

Ty Cobb was a Saint.
:rolleyes:/>
His being in there kinda nullifies my arguements of keeping Clemons and Bonds out based on assholeness.

It's a tough call. Bonds was a pretty good player and maybe had a chance before he bulked up. I'm not so sure about McGuire or Sosa. Clemens probably would be a shoe in.

I would leave them out just for spite, since both Bonds and Clemens are compete assholes, but that's just me.
McGuire seems a little too smug about it so screw him, and Sosa didn't have the HoF career, plus it was kinda funny how his grasp of the English language escaped him when ever a steroid question came up.

The spite thing is exactly what the bed wetters at the BBWA are pulling.

Ty Cobb was a blatant racist, but he could play the game, so he's in the Hall of Fame, as he should be just based on his amazing career numbers.

I'm as anti-Bonds as there is, but the man was the most feared hitter on his generation and deserves to be in the Hall.

Clemens was the most dominating power right handed pitcher of his era and he, too, deserves to be enshrined.

Sosa, no way.

Palmeiro, yes.

Clemens has documented use by a first party. He's done. Well, that and the fact that he's a world class asshole.

Sosa failed at least one drug test aaaad got caught doctoring bats. F-him.

McGuire openly admitted doing Andro, and while it wasn't illegal, it does make you wonder what else he was doing to grow from skinny kid to gargantuan proportions.

Not sure the clause that now qualifies character existed back then though.

It's the "butt-hurt clause."

Let Pete Rose in, then we'll talk, I say.

Pete Rose's problem is he signed the lifetime ban.

He should be in the Hall, at the very least, just not allowed to manage or take part in MLB sanctioned activities.

Essentially, he's on the outside because he's a dumbass and allowed Giamatti and Fay Vincent to browbeat him. He was too cheap/broke to hire a good lawyer

Yeah I know. It's not the Wonderful guy Hall of Fame. It's the baseball Hall of Fame. Just because someone is an asshole, it isn't enough to keep them out. I know Bonds wasn't warm and fuzzy with reporters and maybe they're holding that against him. Hell, he might have had a hard time getting in because of it even without the steroid issue. It just would have been more obvious.

I see he has a new reality tv show with his new young wife so he'll be back in the money in no time right?? Then again she'll probably come to her senses, ask herself WTF was I thinking, divorce his azz, and take him for his new found money. At his age, marriage to a 30 something Playboy hottie is a gamble at best so it's right up his alley.
