They've been doing a lot of work on that road for some time now. Recently it was upgraded from avoid at all costs to hard to drive on.

From the perspective of an NHL fan, the forwards aren’t exciting. Only two of them figure to be regular NHL contributors down the line. More if you’re optimistic about Veilleux and Sill and Wheeling players Tom Kuhnhackl and Dominik Uher. But this is a good group for the AHL, and they’re going to play a fast, up-tempo style identical to the one run in Pittsburgh.

The forwards aren't exciting but they're good for the AHL. There's a telling statement. Only 2 figure to play in the NHL but for the most part they're good enough in the AHL. Alrighty then.

Well, considering that Shero like to draft D-men, it's no wonder. Guess how many forwards on the Baby Pens were Shero draft picks?

And now here' the Defensemen and Goalies

Now the trick is to guess which ones were not Shero draft picks. :runforhills:

I'm not sure if I'm in the right thread but the Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Michigan Warriors on the road yesterday 4-2 to improve 5-4-4, 5th place in the North Division out of 8 teams.

Friday the WBS Pens opened there season @ Binghampton.

Penguins Unable to Hold Off Senators

Smith scores first goal of season for WBS

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins could not stave off a third-period rally by the Binghamton Senators, who skated to a 2-1 win at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

In what was the season opener for both teams, the Penguins held a 1-0 lead coming out of the second intermission. Senators rookie Jakob Silfverberg evened the score 4:34 into the third, gathering the rebound off of a Jared Cowen shot and banging it home.

Less than three minutes later, Hugh Jessiman notched the game-winner when he reached back to pick up a loose puck in the slot and rifled it over the shoulder of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton netminder Jeff Zatkoff.

The Penguins controlled the offensive momentum for much of the first period, outshooting the Senators 17-9, but goalie Robin Lehner stood tall to keep the score, 0-0

The scoreless tie was broken at 13:08 of the second period as Trevor Smith knocked down a clearing attempt at the Binghamton blueline and raced in alone before firing a low wrister past the right skate of Lehner.

Appearing in his first game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Zatkoff suffered the loss with 21 saves on 23 shots. Lehner stopped 35-of-36 for Binghamton.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton next takes the ice on Friday, Oct. 19 versus the Springfield Falcons at 7:05P.M.

The Penguins will open up their home scheduled on Saturday, October 20 at 7:05 P.M. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. For more information, call the Penguins at (570) 208-PENS or visit www.wbspenguins.com.

The Baby Pens have lost their first 4 games. Marginal NHL talent not enough to put them over the top, eh? Maybe our marginal talent is more marginal than other NHL teams' marginal talent, yes?

Guess I'll see on Sunday. I hope the Pens shut out the Bears. I really hate the WOOOOOO guy.

Wifey and I went to Hershey tonight. Not impressed with the Baby Pens. On a side note I found fans who are worse than Cryer fans but then again they are Craps fans incognito. One young lad, maybe 6 years old, showed up in a Crosby sweater. He was booed as he and his dad went to their seats. Totally classless. Mormina got hit in the face with the puck and went to his knees and these azzoles yelled "Suck it up and deal with it. Stand up and be a real man". When one of the Bears, I think it was Boyd Kane, got hit and went to his knees they were screaming for a penalty. I stood up and yelled "Suck it up and deal with it. Stand up and be a real man". Apparently I deserved the obscenities I was called. Go Fig!!

I went to Hershey back in 2009 for a Baby Pens game and I almost got into a fight with a fat **** in the parking lot because he thought if he talking shit with his boys I would be afraid.

Needless to say, they didn't have his back when I got in his face and his fat ass shut up pretty quick.

**** those piece of shit fans.

AHL is a whole 'nuther brand of hockey than the NHL. I went to a WBS game in Wilkes-Barre a few years ago and the fans are nuts. They absolutely live for the fights. Both Bonvie and BizNasty were on the Baby Pens then and Biz got into 2 fights and Bonvie 1 fight. The fans got all lathered up over it. They cared more about the fights than the hockey.

Goon hockey garbage. When the Lock Monsters (Kings then Canes affiliate) were here in Lowell, I went to a dozen games or so over the first couple of years, but you just get sick of the garbage. I stopped going and started to see more NCAA games.
