Dan Bylsma is a lot like Barack Obama. Came in with no experience. Much acclaimed. Followed by four years of disappointment and failure. Then rehired.
Ray Shero on Crack: "I believe he's the coach to take us forward. I have faith in his ability."

Not one Penguin prospect on the list.
Hockey's Future has Morrow at #26
Despres at #31 and Pouliot at #41
I guess on the bright side, you can say they have 3 guys in the top 50.

I'm not buying that list. Not sure what his criteria is, but to not have Harrington, Doumoulin or Morrow on the list looks a little suspect to me.
This is what the list disclaimer says:

Who does the disclaimer cause not to be included? The older guys in the system aren't exactly top quality. There's Strait and Sneep, but those guys are falling below these younger blueliners. You can say that about D-men Grant, Bortuzzo, and D'Agostino too. Forwards? Veilluex? He's lost in the sauce. At least Bennett is showing some promise at WBS this year.
Here's Shero's Picks:
2006 NHL Entry Draft
2 C Jordan Staal (Decent career but now a Cane)
32 D Carl Sneep (Still around but passed up by the younger prospects)
65 D Brian Strait (Maybe a chance to make the big team this year)
125 G Chad Johnson (Nice career with the Cincy Bengals - He has played a few NHL games)
185 D Timo Seppanen (Gone, playing in Finland)
2007 NHL Entry Draft
20 C Angelo Esposito (Was the trade worth it?)
51 C Keven Veilleux (Still around, but going nowhere)
78 D Robert Bortuzzo (Still around, who knows if he makes it or not)
80 C Casey Pierro-Zabotel (Tweet his wife and find him. ECHLer. Not Pens property anymore)
111 L Luca Caputi (Toronto organization, but we got the golden Poni boy for him )
118 D Alex Grant (See Bortuzzo)
141 D Jake Muzzin (Gone. He has played 11 games for the LA Kings)
171 C Dustin Jeffrey (With the Pens. Injury issues. DB Doghouse issues. Jury isout yet)
2008 NHL Entry Draft
29 traded to Atlanta (Was the trade worth it?)
60 traded to Toronto (Part of the Hal Gill trade)
90 traded to NYR (it's complicated)
120 C Nathan Moon (ECHL - Not sure who he belongs to. Don't care)
150 G Alexander Pechurskiy (One game with the Pens. Plays for Magnitogorsk)
180 G Patrick Killeen (Still in the system. ECHL - Nailers)
210 D Nick D'Agostino (Looking up at long list in front of him on the organization depth chart)
2009 NHL Entry Draft
30 D Simon Despres (Has played NHL with Pens. Highly rated. NHL this year?)
61 D Philip Samuelsson (Ulf Jr. - Who Knows?)
63 R Ben Hanowski (Unimpressive Sr. season at St.Cloud College)
121 R Nick Petersen (Wild property)
123 D Alex Velischek (Sr. at Providence College)
151 C Andy Bathgate (Neverland)
181 D Viktor Ekbom (Europe)
2010 NHL Entry Draft
20 R Beau Bennett (Doing well at WBS. Leads Baby Pens in scoring)
80 R Bryan Rust (Still at Notre Dame)
110 R Tom Kuhnhackl (Lots of potential, lots of injuries. Played 11 games at WBS this year)
140 L Kenny Agostino (Still at Yale)
152 D Joe Rogalski (No longer Pens property. ECHL Bakersfield Condors)
170 D Reid McNeill (Wheeling Nailers - He's got a long list in front of him onthe Pens depth chart)
2011 NHL Entry Draft
23 D Joe Morrow (Highly rated - Playing with WBS - NHL this year?)
54 D Scott Harrington (Highly Rated - Junior Level - On Canada's WJC Team)
144 C Dominik Uher (Playing between Wheeling and WBS this year)
174 W Josh Archibald (U.of Nebraska)
209 C Scott Wilson (UMass Lowell)
2012 NHL Entry Draft
8 D Derrick Pouliot (Highly rated - Juniors - Just cut from Canada's WJC Roster)
22 D Olli Maatta (London Knights - OHL)
52 C Theodor Blueger (Minnesota State University)
81 C Oskar Sundqvist (Playing in Sweden)
83 G Matt Murray (Sault Sainte Marie - OHL)
92 C Matia Marcantuoni (Kitchener - OHL)
113 G Sean Maguire (Boston Univ.)
143 C Clark Seymour (Peterborough - OHL)
173 R Anton Zlobin (Val d'Or Foreurs - QMJHL)
The Pens have one guy on the NHL roster, Dustin Jeffrey, that Shero drafted. Obviously, that may change slightly, if they ever play this year, with perhaps Morrow or Despres making the team at that point. They're certainly well stocked with quality blueliners in the system and some of those guys can be packaged in trades to obtain other talent. At Forward, Bennett looks like he could be the real deal, but not much there below him. But overall, I'm not impress with the job Shero has done to develop in-house talent, except on D. And with that being said, there really hasn't been many of his picks that have cracked the lineup until now. Staal is about his only success story.
